As the Nordic Head of Technical Underwriting, you will play a key role in setting the direction for underwriting governance, managing the underwriting framework, and technical assurance across our Nordic operations.

Job Description:

As the Nordic Head of Technical Underwriting, you will provide subject matter expertise, leadership, and guidance in underwriting governance assurance. Your contributions will ensure that Zurich remains at the forefront of underwriting best practice, supporting our underwriters and leadership teams across multiple Lines of Business. You will drive technical innovation and continuous improvement, helping us manage risk and deliver optimal results.  This is a people manager role with direct personnel responsibility, combining operational and strategic initiatives. You will be part of the Nordic Underwriting Management team and report directly to the Nordic Chief Underwriting Officer.

• Oversee the “The Zurich Way” of underwriting promoting consistency of underwriting
• Support the development and implementation of underwriting strategy
• Maintain underwriting policy and guideline control framework and best practices
• Oversee the internal control framework for underwriting, conduct regular risk assessment, maintain and implement assurance framework and ensure compliance with Group risk mitigation actions
• Provide training and onboarding on governance and compliance, fostering underwriting excellence.
• Continuously refining business processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
• Serve as a key liaison across various functions and support business continuity and regulatory reporting.
• Ensure Zurich’s standards are consistently applied and adapted to changing business needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree within related fields such as finance, engineering or law
• Foundational experience in underwriting processes
• Experience in risk management, governance or compliance
• Proven track record of implementing governance frameworks and quality assurance
• Ability to translate complex data into practical, actionable strategies
• Proven leadership experience, preferably in a managerial role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Fluency in a Nordic language, both spoken and written, at C2 proficiency level is an advantage
